KEIGHLEY Lions Club has a new president.

Roy Hallahan has taken over the reins, with Ruth Payne as vice-president.

They took-up the roles in a ceremony at the Bronte Hotel, Haworth.

The club's outgoing president, Allan Clark, said: "It is with immense pride that, following a very successful year, I hand the mantle on.

"I wish the new team continued success for the next year of service."

He said highlights of the past year had included receiving a regional 'club of the year' accolade, the induction of new members, a successful Christmas sleigh and grotto, community activities and service, and the presentation of small grants.

Mr Hallahan said it was "an honour" to become president.

"I never imagined I would be in this position as the figurehead of such an amazing club," he said.

"It means the world to me to serve and to have been given such an honour."
