POLICE are warning householders across the district to be vigilant this summer.
The West Yorkshire force says sneak-in burglars often take advantage of warmer weather by entering properties through open doors and windows.
"Keep your doors closed and locked – even if you're in the house," says a spokesperson. "And ensure your locks are up to standard.
"Many people will have their windows open during warm weather, but make sure you keep valuables out of sight and out of reach of burglars. When you go out, always close and lock your windows."
West Yorkshire Police say that in around a quarter of all burglary incidents across the force area, entry is gained via an open or insecure door or window.
