A MAYORAL tribute has been paid to the team behind an afternoon tea.
The free event was hosted by volunteers and trustees at Denholme Community Centre to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
Funding was provided by Denholme Town Council.
A spokesperson for the organisers said: "A fantastic day was had by all who attended. Guests enjoyed a beautiful afternoon tea, whilst listening to wartime period music."
Denholme mayor Councillor Shaun Breeze posted a tribute on the town council's Facebook page.
He said: "It was great to see the community coming together for a spot of D-Day anniversary afternoon tea.
"One of our key themes is improving wellbeing and connecting people across our community.
"Events like this make a massive difference to people’s wellbeing and sense of belonging.
"Thank you to all the volunteers and trustees at Denholme Community Centre for providing a great welcoming space and tasty wholesome food!"
