WE all know about the problems faced by many with regard to affordable housing. But no politicians are truly honest about it.

Private sustained affordable housing is a myth, and housebuilding targets a mere fantasy.

Even any initially affordable properties should increase in value, making it perhaps more difficult for a future buyer to fund.

An increasing and already large population means that we will never build enough new housing to satisfy demand. Even if we could, living on an island our land is not infinite.

Added to these dilemmas, any approved developments are usually luxury homes on forever-lost 'green belt'. We need a properly thought out starter homes programme on 'brownfield' sites.
