AN award-winning Haworth bookshop has a packed programme of events lined up this month.

Wave of Nostalgia – which earlier this year was named north of England Independent Bookshop of the Year – kicks off activities on Wednesday evening (July 3) when author Essie Fox will speak about her dark gothic novel, The Fascination.

The following Wednesday (July 10), at 7pm, best-selling writer Jennifer Saint will tell the story of Hera, Queen to the Gods of Greek myth.

And the Greek mythology theme will continue the next week – on July 17 – when award-winning author Hannah Lynn launches her latest historical novel, Daughters of Olympus.

Wave of Nostalgia is then supporting Haworth Festival with three events towards the end of the month.

On Thursday, July 25, at 7pm, locally-based poet Ian Humphreys will lead a celebration of the relationship between the Brontes and the wild in a series of poems anthologised as No Net Ensnares Me. He and seven other contributors will perform work from the collection.

Double Paralympic gold medallist Danielle Brown, from South Craven, will be signing copies of her award-winning book Run Like a Girl on Saturday, July 27, at 2pm.

Run Like a Girl – which showcases the inspirational stories of 50 sportswomen, examining the challenges they’ve faced and the hurdles overcome to achieve success – was victorious in the children's category of the Sports Book of the Year awards two years ago.

Danielle – who was also five-times world champion in archery – outlines the achievements of the women, together with what motivated and influenced them.

The final event of the month takes place on Wednesday, July 31, at 7pm, when best-selling historical writer Stacey Halls will present from her novel The Household – which is set against Charles Dickens' home for fallen women and is inspired by real figures from history.

Some of the events are taking place at the bookshop itself, in Main Street, whilst others are being hosted by neighbouring Cobbles & Clay.

Wave of Nostalgia owner, Diane Park, says: "It’s great to be involved with Haworth Festival once more.

"We’ve put together events for early July and the festival that we hope people of all ages will find educational and exciting.

"For anyone who can’t make it to Haworth, most are also being shared on Zoom."
