A KEIGHLEY artist – and author and illustrator of children's books – is displaying some of her work at the Great Yorkshire Show.

Hilary Roper is exhibiting large oil paintings and limited editions, and signing copies of three of her books.

She will be on stand 169 in the rural crafts marquee at the event, which runs from Tuesday to Friday next week (July 9-12) at the Harrogate showground.

Hilary says: "My painting is influenced by the theory of chaos, and in my work – whether depicting landscapes, leaping salmon at Stainforth Falls, a hawker moth, tawny owl in the crook of a tree or stone walls – there is intricate linear patterning and stunning colour interaction."

Her next book, featuring poetry for six-to-ten-year-olds, is being published later this year.
