A CROSS Hills care home has achieved veteran-friendly status.

Townend Close is amongst seven Anchor homes across Yorkshire to be awarded Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) accreditation.

The framework, which helps care providers offer appropriate support to veterans living in homes, has eight standards which must be met to qualify for the status.

Kathryn Glass, VFF project lead, says: "The applications submitted by all seven homes were of an exceptionally high standard and testament to the dedication, passion and commitment each has for providing high-quality person-centred care.

"The programme will benefit both current and future residents, along with staff, who will be able to access enhanced training and guidance to better engage with the unique military experiences that residents have lived through. Having seven care homes earn VFF status is a significant achievement, both by the individual homes and Anchor as a business."

Rob Martin, Anchor's managing director of care services, says: "This is a fantastic achievement by all the homes involved and they should be truly proud, as I am, of the hard work they've put in to achieve veteran-friendly status."
