A CHARITY turned on the style to raise funds for the Airedale Hospital Emergency Department Appeal.

A fashion show and shopping night was held to boost the fundraising campaign, which was launched to help refurbish areas of the emergency department and provide extras.

The event, dubbed The Big TLC, was spearheaded by Airedale Hospital & Community Charity.

Fashion students from Craven College in Skipton displayed their end-of-year designs, and Silsden-based Boutique Ole showed off its new summer stock.

Also, locally-based businesses staged stalls.

The extravaganza, at Skipton Town Hall, followed the success of a similar event held last year.

Craven College fashion tutor, Laura Lee Brennand, says: "We were absolutely honoured to present our students’ work as part of this truly amazing event, and to support Airedale Hospital & Community Charity.

"It was great to see so many groups of wonderful people from our community come together for The Big TLC."

Jo Mount, owner of Boutique Ole, said: "It was a fantastic evening.

"My models loved taking to the catwalk.

"I felt very honoured to have been asked to take part in the event and it is great to see the funds raised going towards such a worthy appeal. A huge 'thank you' from me to everyone that got involved."

Laura Hepworth, community fundraiser with Airedale Hospital & Community Charity, said: "It has been fantastic to see the success of the event, following on from the first one last year. Together we have raised more than £700 for the Emergency Department Appeal.

"Thank you to everyone for coming along and supporting the event, and of course to Craven College, Boutique Ole and their fabulous models. The evening was a complete triumph thanks to you."

The catwalk show culminated with a surprise appearance by some models from the emergency department, wearing their scrubs.

The Airedale Hospital Emergency Department Appeal aims to raise £150,000.

Funds will be focused on three main aspects of the department – the paediatric waiting and resuscitation areas, and bereavement facilities.
