PREVIOUSLY unseen items from a historic hall's collection are to be shown for the first time.
They will be displayed at East Riddlesden Hall as part of new 'Hidden Treasures' tours next month.
Amongst the pieces is an arsenic box, whose green hue was all the rage in the 1850s. But the arsenic content of its wallpaper lining rendered the item lethally toxic.
"Along with other rare and unseen items the new tour gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about the history of the hall's collection," says a spokesperson for the 17th-century National Trust property.
"The tour is a captivating exploration of the hall's most intriguing artefacts."
The Hidden Treasures tour lasts around 45 minutes.
It is free to attend, although standard admission charges to the hall will apply.
Booking isn't necessary.
East Riddlesden Hall is open Saturday to Wednesday, between 10am and 4pm. For more details, visit nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/yorkshire/east-riddlesden-hall
