ATTRACTIONS have been unveiled for this year's Keighley Show as tickets go on sale.

The popular annual extravaganza takes place at Marley playing fields on Saturday, September 7.

Main-ring entertainment will include the Mighty Smith Show.

It features Adrian Smith, a three-times winner of the UK Strongest Man competition, who will present a family show with visual humour and audience participation.

His feats include tearing-up catalogues, bending six-inch nails in his teeth, lifting Atlas stones and pulling vehicles.

SMJ Falconry will be attending with a selection of its 50 birds of prey, for a static display. Visitors will be able to learn more about the birds’ features and abilities, and there are related games and quizzes for children.

Youngsters from Showkids Dance and Performing Arts will display their talents. The school caters for children aged three to 18.

Ever-popular terrier racing is making a return, plus there will be a ferret show and racing, plus a fun dog show.

A wide range of equestrian and donkey classes – affiliated to the Donkey Breed Society, which promotes the care and welfare of the animals – is lined up.

Equine categories will include heavy horses, with entries open to Shires, Clydesdales, Percheron and Suffolk Punch. And making a return after an absence of several years are decorated heavy horses in harness.

There will be an array of vintage and classic cars courtesy of the Craven Old Wheels Society, and an extensive display of vintage tractors.

Other attractions across the showground will include children’s amusements, trade stalls, a licensed bar and catering stands offering a range of food and drink.

In addition to the traditional agricultural showing sections for cattle and sheep, there are around 60 classes in handicrafts, art, photography, baking and produce, and flower arranging – including some for children – and more than 100 classes in the horticulture section for novices and experienced gardeners alike.

Ticket prices for the show have been pegged at the same level as last year – £5 for everyone aged 16 and over.

Admission is free for under-16s accompanied by a paying adult.

A spokesperson for the show society says: "People can avoid queuing on the day by purchasing advance tickets at keighleyshow.co.uk/prices-tickets/, until August 23. Alternatively, visitors can pay for admission on show day at the same price."
