KEIGHLEY Lions Club has awarded its first donations under a new community grants scheme.
Groups and individuals from across the town and surrounding areas were invited to apply for funding.
Awards presented include £250 each to the Salvation Army for its Let’s Make Tea project, 1st Keighley (Fell Lane) Scout Group for repairs to the roof of its hut, St Stephen's Church at Steeton with Eastburn towards a Holiday at Home project, and Lees cum Cross Roads Village Association to help buy gardening equipment.
The cheques were handed out by former Lions club president, Allan Clark.
He said: "We are proud to have supported some great causes so far with our new grants scheme. All the groups are more than worthy of our backing."
Mr Clark also presented £345 each to the chosen charities from his term as president – the Lion's Den Shed and Airedale Hospital-based Sunbeam Support Group.
