AN international day staged by Haworth and Worth Valley Rotary Club has been hailed as a success.
The event, at Haworth Parish Church yesterday, showcased some of the charities working overseas that are supported by the club.
Global causes backed by Rotarians include ShelterBox, which helps people in need after natural and man-made disasters. Each box supplies an extended family of up to ten people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless.
And Rotary's End Polio Now campaign has made great strides towards eradicating the disease worldwide.
A milestone in the battle was reached in 2020 when the World Health Organisation certified that Africa was free from wild polio. The virus remains endemic in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
