GLOWING tribute has been paid to a teaching assistant who has retired after more than three decades at Lees Primary School.

A special assembly honoured the 34-year service of Angela Firth.

Her granddaughter Enya, a Year 6 leaver, finished the same day.

A spokesperson for the Bronte Academy Trust, of which Lees Primary School is a part, says: "Angela has dedicated amazing service to the school.

"Throughout her time as a teaching assistant at Lees Primary School, she has supported – and helped to nurture – over a thousand children.

"She is a truly remarkable person and we want to thank her – on behalf of the staff, children and families of Lees, as well as the wider Bronte Academy Trust – for all her hard work and dedication."

And writing in his final newsletter of the term, the executive headteacher, James Travers, described Angela's service as a "fantastic achievement".
