PLANS to cut opening hours at council-run libraries across the district – including Keighley's – have gone out to public consultation.
This week we revealed how new fears had been voiced over the future of historic Keighley Library, in North Street, amid proposed money-saving changes.
Bradford Council is looking to chop £175,000 from its libraries service.
The council says options include closing libraries for an hour over lunchtime periods, shortening Saturday hours, opening later in the mornings or half or full-day closures during the week.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s executive member for healthy people and places, says: "This consultation will allow us to make informed decisions based on the information provided by residents who use our libraries service. We don’t want to be having to make these changes, but unfortunately we have to look at the services we provide and make some difficult decisions.
"I would encourage everyone of all ages to have their say on what they would like to see happen with opening hours at their local library."

Paper copies of the consultation form can be obtained from libraries.
Responses should be submitted to the council by Wednesday, September 4.
