A KEIGHLEY carpet and flooring store has closed its doors for the final time.
Carpetright's outlet on the Alston Retail Park has shut after the retailer went into administration.
Fifty-four stores and two logistics hubs across the country have been sold to CWHP Ltd, part of the Tapi Group, and 308 employees transferred.
But Carpetright's remaining 200-plus stores have closed, with the loss of over 1,500 jobs.
Zelf Hussain, joint administrator and partner at PwC UK, says: "Carpetright has fallen victim to challenges facing many retailers. A mixture of factors – including a big reduction in consumer spending due to cost-of-living pressures, lower home sales and a debilitating cyber attack – made it impossible for the business to continue in its existing form.
"The sale of some stores and the brand to Tapi has allowed over 300 jobs to be saved, and gives the Carpetright brand the chance to continue under its new ownership.
"However, it is deeply saddening that for the remainder of the workforce there are redundancies. We are committed to helping those affected.
"We know this is an uncertain time for many and we want to thank all staff for the support they have given the company."
