A SERIES of activities is planned across the district to help keep children entertained during the school summer holidays.

More than 130 events are taking place at libraries as part of this year's summer reading challenge.

The programme includes a visit to Keighley Library by comic strip author and illustrator Kev Sutherland on Monday, August 12.

Any child aged between four and 11 can take part in the free challenge, which has a Marvellous Makers theme.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s executive member for healthy people and places, says: "There’s a wide range of free and low-cost activities taking place throughout the district for children and their families to enjoy throughout the school summer holidays.

“I am delighted that we are able to offer so many events to delight and entertain children and young people – and whatever their age, ability or interest, there is sure to be something for all."
