AN annual charity bike show was a record-breaker.

The Yorkshire Classic Motorcycle Club event attracted an unprecedented 106 exhibitors.

Machines on display ranged from Girder Forks from the early part of the last century to pre-1980 British and foreign classics, British competition bikes, scooters and customised Harley Davidsons.

The show, at The Country Manor – formerly the New Quarry House pub – at Lees Moor, also raised a record amount.

Proceeds from a raffle and autojumble stall, together with donations, were for three causes – Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Shipley-based The Cellar Trust.

Club president, Neil Anderton, says: "We raised £2,600, from our autojumble stall, the raffle – with a dozen local businesses giving prizes – and donations.

"It was a big success. The weather stayed fine and the crowds rolled in – over 600 people attended to view the show.

"With excellent hospitality from The Country Manor, a good time was had by all."

Awards were presented to category winners by Dan Clarke, who was recently victorious in major classic motorcycle event the Pre'65 Scottish Two-Day Trial.

He also presented the 'best in show' accolade, to David Battye, for his 1975 Honda CB750.
