AIREDALE Hospital has won recognition for the support it provides to families of newborn babies.
The UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative has awarded a certificate of commitment, marking the development of an infant feeding policy and action plan, to the special care baby unit.
And Stage 2 accreditation has been granted to the maternity department, after staff completed an education programme.
The achievements were announced to coincide with World Breastfeeding Week.
Wendy Toulmin, infant feeding co-ordinator at Airedale Hospital, says: "The Baby Friendly Initiative supports families with feeding and developing close and loving relationships, so that all babies get the best possible start.
"Working in collaboration between maternity and the special care baby unit has strengthened the support we can provide to our families.
"To mark World Breastfeeding Week, we wanted to share our commitment to its theme – Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All – and celebrate our successes."
