PEOPLE are being encouraged to ensure their medicine cabinets are well stocked and repeat prescriptions requested ahead of the bank holiday on Monday, August 26.
And regional health chiefs are reminding the public of healthcare options should anyone require help.
Dr Hamish McLure, the region's NHS medical director, says: "The NHS is here for you if needed over the bank holiday weekend.
"But we’re asking people to ensure they’re prepared for any medicine needs and know where to get support if required.
"The NHS 111 online service is a great option. It can tell you where to obtain help for your symptoms, and the most appropriate treatment.
"People should still call 999 and go to A&E when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk."
