HAWORTH & District Gardeners’ Show – the 104th to be held – has been hailed by organisers as a huge success.
Nearly 500 exhibits – across 108 classes – were on display at the event, staged at Haworth Village Hall.
Ninety people took part, with a number exhibiting at the show for the first time.
There were also several new classes on offer, including master gardener, and in the vegetable and flower sections.
A spokesperson for the show committee says: "The hall was buzzing with activity – it was lovely to see it once again filled with fantastic exhibits, including vegetables, flowers, handicrafts and produce, and entries across the children's classes.
"It’s always good, after the hard work of organising the event, to see everything pull together on the day.
"Prize money was paid from sponsorship, provided by many local businesses and individuals, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who supported us – either by sponsoring classes or providing a raffle prize."
Following the show, an auction of exhibits raised £348 for Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands.
That amount was added to the proceeds, of just over £150, from a cake and plant stall which had been held by the committee in Haworth Main Street to promote the show.
With unclaimed prize money too, a combined total of £571 was raised.
Members of the Oakworth Manorlands fundraising group provided refreshments throughout the afternoon, further topping up the pot by nearly £290. It costs over £10,000 a day to keep the hospice doors open.
Trophies were presented by Keighley & Ilkley MP, Robbie Moore.
The spokesperson adds: "Plans are already underway for the 105th show – which will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
"You don’t have to live in Haworth to enter the show. Please get in touch by email on haworthshow@gmail.com if you would like a schedule sending for next year's show."
Trophy winners were: most points in vegetable classes, Brian King; best exhibit in vegetable classes, Mark Brown; National Vegetable Society Silver Medal, Malcolm Tordoff; most points in flower classes, John Smiles; best exhibit in flower classes, John Oxley; best exhibit in pot plants, David Allison; most points in handicraft classes and best exhibit in handicraft classes, Nancy Dobson; most points in produce classes and best exhibit in produce classes, Sue Gardner; most points in children’s classes, Sophie Swinson; best exhibit in children’s classes, Pippa Batch.
