BARCLAYS has launched a new banking service in Keighley.

The Barclays Local facility has opened at the civic centre, in North Street.

Its launch follows the closure of the nearby branch earlier this month.

Customers can use the new service to access provision including financial reviews, make balance requests, open new accounts and receive digital banking support. The site is cashless.

The Barclays Local is open weekdays, from 9.30am-12.30pm and 1pm-3.30pm.

Sara Hustler, Barclays' customer care leader, says: "We’re delighted to launch the new service in Keighley. This represents our commitment to customers who wish to continue to have an in-person banking presence by offering the ability to visit Barclays on their high street, albeit in a different environment."

The official opening was performed by the town's MP, Robbie Moore.

He says: "The opening of this hub provides reassurance to Barclays customers that the all-important face-to-face service is still available in Keighley. After Barclays announced plans to shut its Keighley branch earlier this year, I lobbied hard to ensure a physical presence was maintained in the town – and I am pleased it listened. Even though the nature of banking is changing, it's important customers can still have that face-to-face contact."
