A KEIGHLEY-based charity has won the support of a North Yorkshire business for a second year.

Volunteer-run Aireworth Dogs in Need will continue to be backed by WCF Pet & Equestrian in Skipton.

Customers can buy pre-filled donation bags, packed with pooch products such as food, supplements, toys, treats and healthcare items.

The bags – which are available in different values of up to £10 – can be bought from a dedicated stand in the store at Cavendish Street, Skipton.

All the items will go to Aireworth Dogs in Need, which is able to request goods that will be most useful to be included in the bags.

Skipton store manager, Carol Clifford, says: "It’s really important to us that we do everything we can to support local charities, and the team has really got behind this initiative.

"As well as the donation bag scheme, we support the charity’s own fundraising efforts via our social media channels and through in-store events, and this year we are also making a financial contribution as a company."

As part of the initiative, WCF Pet & Equestrian has pledged to donate three per cent of money redeemed in-store through its loyalty card scheme.

Aireworth Dogs in Need operates across the Aire, Worth and Wharfe valleys and Craven, providing foster-based dog rescue services.

Caroline Porter, for the charity, says: "As a small, independent rescue run entirely by volunteers, donations like these mean such a lot and are vital to keeping the charity going.

"We have a great working relationship with the WCF team and are grateful for its support.

"Every penny donated goes directly to helping local dogs in need, in particular paying for vital veterinary treatment to ensure the dogs are healthy and pain free."

WCF Pet & Equestrian – which is based at Brampton, near Carlisle – offers a range of products and advice for pet owners.

Founded in 1911, it is part of a family of businesses which operates across the UK in the retail, leisure and logistics sectors.

WCF Pet & Equestrian has a network of eight stores in North Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria and south-west Scotland.

All take part in charity fundraising, with each outlet choosing its own good cause to support.
