SUE Ryder – which runs the Manorlands hospice at Oxenhope – is expanding its network of 'Grief Kind Spaces'.

The spaces enable people to access free, informal peer-to-peer bereavement support.

Weekly drop-in sessions already take place at locations including Bingley and Skipton.

And on Tuesday (September 10), a new space is being launched – at TeamSport Bradford, on the Beckside Business Park west of the city centre.

Tracy Brierley, Sue Ryder area co-ordinator for the initiative, says: "Our vision is to provide grief support for everyone who needs it. And I am delighted that with the backing of our host TeamSport Bradford, we are able to open another Grief Kind Space, providing vital bereavement support to more people in West Yorkshire.

"Our Grief Kind Spaces are welcoming, inclusive and open to anyone over 18 who has experienced bereavement at any time. Whether you want to attend regularly to connect with others in similar situations, or simply drop in for a quick chat, you will receive a warm welcome. There is no need to register – just pop along!"

The charity is seeking more volunteers to help out as the scheme continues to grow.

Tracy adds: "All our sessions are run in the community with the support of trained volunteers, and we are looking for more people to join the team.

"You don't need any experience – full training will be provided. The only requirement is that you over 18 years old and have a few hours to share.

"If this sounds like something you would like to be involved in, I would encourage you to get in touch."

Norris Royal, for TeamSport Bradford, says: "We are really excited to be offering our venue as a Grief Kind Space for Sue Ryder to deliver its invaluable sessions.

"We have excellent facilities here that we are gladly making available. We are very proud to be part of this."

The Grief Kind Space at TeamSport Bradford will be open every Tuesday, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Bingley sessions take place at Bradford & Bingley Sports Club, Wagon Lane, on Thursdays, from 10am to noon.

And the Grief Kind Space in Skipton is held at the Fisher Medical Practice, Coach Street, every Friday, between 10am and noon.

It's also hoped to launch a new space at Baildon.
