THE Rotary Club of Haworth & Worth Valley has despatched its second batch of aid, half a ton's worth in total, to Ukraine.

Sent in support of the country's conflict with Russia, the shipment follows a previous package of mother and baby goods sent by the club in 2022.

For the last month, the Rotarians have been publicising their donation drive to Worth Valley communities that could spare warm clothes, household goods, and other needed items.

The campaign culminated in a collection day on Saturday, September 7, at Haworth Masonic Hall, when approximately 24 deliveries of donations were made by individuals.

These on-the-day donations, along with all the other donations collected, made up the contents of the second batch.

Past president Gary Gardner, who led the campaign, said: "We’d like to thank the Lodge of the Three Graces for allowing us to use their building on Mill Hey as a collection point.

"Donations even rolled in after we’d finished collecting on Saturday, so we have gathered the equivalent of 70 bin bags full for shipping to Ukraine and, since then, another eight have arrived - together with a car-boot load of donations from the Rotary Club of Bradford."

Donations were transferred to Ukraine Humanitarian Aid.
