A COMMUNITY is under starter's orders for a Christmas lights fundraiser.
A festive race night takes place at Oakworth Village Hall on Saturday, October 19, from 7pm.
The family event is being run by Keighley Lions in partnership with the hall.
There will be six races featuring Christmas-themed characters, with people invited to place bets.
The event will also include pie and peas and hotdogs, with vegetarian options on offer, and a cake raffle.
Tickets for the race night are £6, with under-10s admitted free – go to keighleylions.org.uk/shop
Mags Dearden, chair of Oakworth Christmas Lights Group, says: "This festive event is going to be incredible, and we would just ask that people give their support.
"We are thankful to Keighley Lions and Oakworth Village Hall for making the event possible, but for it to be a success we need you!
"The village lights cost about £4,000 per year to maintain and we need all the help we can get to keep them brightening up our community."
The group would also like to hear from anyone interested in sponsoring a 'horse' or race.
