I AM writing regarding your recently-published article, 'Campaigners fight plans for battery energy storage site on edge of village'.
As the Member of Parliament for Shipley constituency, I am aware of Amberside Energy’s proposal to build a battery energy storage system near Cullingworth.
I attended the recent public consultation and have also met with representatives of Amberside Energy. I have raised concerns regarding fire safety risks, noise pollution and potential disruption.
New green infrastructure, such as the proposed energy storage system, will be vital in tackling the climate crisis and lowering energy bills. However, it must be safe, built in a suitable location and deliver community benefit.
I have requested that Amberside Energy attends a public consultation where it can respond directly to residents’ concerns raised during the consultation.
Anna Dixon, MP for Shipley
