FRAGRANCE and its role in people's health and wellbeing was the focus of a walk organised by Cliffe Castle Support Group.
As part of the free event, The Fragrant Garden, participants explored the sense of smell and learned how flowers and herbs could provide a calming and sensory experience.
The walk – at Cliffe Castle, Keighley – was led by qualified aromatherapist Val Preston, with plant expertise provided by Racheal Neild, of the Healthy Growth initiative.
"The interactive nature of the walk encouraged many questions and there was plenty of planting advice and cuttings to take home," says Val. "The benefits to individual wellbeing and the important connection with the science of aroma were highlighted which made for a calm, informal and enlightening activity."
The event was the first in a series of free wellbeing walks being staged by Cliffe Castle Support Group, with funding from CNet, Bradford Council, Healthy Minds and My Living Well.
The next – on October 15 – will explore nature in autumn, a walking photography workshop is scheduled for November 5 and later that month the focus will be on observational art.
