STUDENTS have until this Friday (September 27) if they wish to obtain half-price train travel from Northern for the school commute.
The rail operator says the discount, offered via its Under 16 Education Season Ticket scheme, is valid for an entire academic year and available on all routes.
Mark Powles, commercial and customer director at Northern, says: "As well as providing a significant saving on the cost of the school commute, the tickets can also be used at weekends and on bank holidays too.
"We have a long-running campaign to encourage people to convert from road to rail – and if we can get young people in the habit while they’re at school, we hope they will stick with it when they move into further education or the workplace."
