HAWORTH is gearing up for Christmas – and another glittering offering is on the cards.

The village, whose festive activities draw visitors from across the district and beyond, once again has a packed programme planned.

Hundreds of Christmas trees and lights will adorn the streets.

And a new feature this year will be two 50ft illuminated Christmas trees in Central Park.

Getting activities underway is Haworth & Worth Valley Rotary Club with its Santa fun run, on Sunday, December 1.

The event will start from Haworth Bowling Club, in the park, at 11am.

A popular returning feature of the Christmas countdown is the torchlight parade, on Saturday and Sunday, December 7 and 8. People will meet at the bottom of Main Street at 5.30pm and make their way up the street with lanterns and torches, accompanied by a brass band.

That weekend there is also a Santa's grotto at the Central Park bowling green, between noon and 3pm both days.

Plus a carol service takes place on the Sunday at St Michael & All Angels' Church, starting at 6.30pm. Everyone is welcome.

Christmas music takes centre stage on Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15.

There will be live music from choirs, brass bands and other musicians at locations across the village, from noon.

Performers on the Saturday will include the Voices of Yorkshire choir.

A Nativity parade takes place on Saturday, December 21, congregating at the bottom of Main Street at 2pm.

The Nativity story will be brought to life as the parade, complete with donkeys, makes its way up the street. It will finish with a short service.

Then, the following day, a Nativity service takes place at St Michael & All Angels' Church at 2pm. It will also include donkeys, and a brass band.

Other festive features include weekend Christmas craft fairs at the Old School Room, an artisan market at Central Park on December 15, seasonal activities at the Bronte Parsonage Museum and on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, and late-night shopping on Thursdays December 5 and 19.
