A PROGRAMME which will provide renewable energy training to Keighley residents has received a funding boost.
The scheme, being delivered by Neighbourhood Project CIC, has been awarded £5,400.
It is amongst six initiatives across the region to benefit from the Net Zero Community Energy Fund, administered jointly by Northern Powergrid and Regen.
Neighbourhood Project CIC is providing training in Keighley – plus Bingley, Bradford, Ilkley and Shipley – with the aim of establishing five community renewable energy projects.
All applications to the Net Zero Community Energy Fund, which is now in its third year, were scrutinised by a panel of judges.
Louise Lowes, director of customer service at Northern Powergrid, says: "We’re proud to play our part in the journey to net zero and support customers across our region to deliver community-led energy projects which will have lasting benefits for the environment and the communities we serve.
"Our collaborative partnership with Regen helps groups to develop innovative energy schemes to support a low-carbon economy, and empowers customers to become their own champions in renewable energy growth.
"We’re excited to hear how the projects take shape and look forward to working with partners and customers to support future community energy schemes."
