A FORMER Keighley teacher has penned her tenth book.

Rosie, John and the God of Putting Things Right is the latest novel from Celia Smith, writing as Celia Micklefield.

She sets the book in the town of Kingsley, created by bringing together locations in Keighley and Bingley.

Celia, who taught English at Oakbank School, says: "In my first novel I apologised to Keighley in the acknowledgements for messing about with its geography in the 1930s and Second World War.

"For Rosie, John and the God of Putting Things Right, I rely on my memories of both Keighley and Bingley in the 1970s.

"I hope Keighley doesn’t mind me borrowing the 'jewel box' and Emerald Street. As for Myrtle Park in Bingley, I couldn’t think of a better place for Rosie and John to have such a magical story."

Following her first book, Celia has until now set her stories at various locations including Norfolk, where she lives.

But she says: "I felt the need to return to my roots. Maybe it’s to do with growing older; we can all get a bit nostalgic every now and then."
