A SILSDEN woman who began fundraising for Airedale Hospital's haematology and oncology day unit two years ago has reached nearly £9,000.
Nicola Wheeler's latest event alone, a barbecue, coined-in £3,179.
She launched her fundraising drive after a friend started treatment on the unit.
In addition to barbecues, Nicola has staged themed evenings and she underwent a 'brave the shave' challenge.
Tribute is paid by Laura Hepworth, community fundraiser with Airedale Hospital & Community Charity.
She says: "We’re so grateful to Nicola. She has shown a huge commitment to fundraising for the haematology and oncology day unit. Her determination to take on new challenges is inspiring.
"It’s because of people like Nicola we’re able to make a difference to our patients, visitors and colleagues. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next."
