ORGANISERS of an annual Keighley school reunion have hailed the event as a success.

Around 65 former pupils of the old Keighley Girls’ Grammar School attended the event, at the town's rugby union club in Utley.

Author and ex-pupil Celia Smith, who writes under her maiden name Celia Micklefield, spoke about her early years in Keighley and her time at the school.

And there was a display of photographs, loaned by Keighley Local Studies Library, of staff and students from the 1960s.

Keighley Girls’ Grammar, later Greenhead, was built on part of the Cliffe Castle estate in 1934. The site is now occupied by Carlton Keighley.

Next year, the reunion takes place on October 8.
