WITH Halloween once again almost upon us, we take a photographic glimpse back at a few of the many activities and events that have been held across the Keighley district over the years.
Halloween had its origins in the festival of Samhain, among the Celts of ancient Britain and Ireland.
It has come to be associated with a number of traditions, from the wearing of masks and costumes for parties to trick-or-treating.
And as our gallery shows, all kinds of ghostly goings-on have been staged – and continue to be held – in the district to mark Halloween, from well-attended parades in Haworth Main Street and ghost tours of 17th-century National Trust property East Riddlesden Hall to the brewing of special beers.
