A BIOGRAPHY has been produced about indie rock 'n' roll band The Undecided which played at venues including the famous Cavern Club.
Sixteen Drummers-The Story of The Undecided has been penned by its former bassist, Johann Shepherd.
The band was founded at Haworth in 1995.
Its original line up of lead guitarist Sam Carlisle, rhythm guitarist Steve Houldsworth and lead singer Tim Baldwin was joined the following year by Johann.
"The band never had a permanent drummer – and instead had 16 come and go – hence the book title," says Johann.
"We wrote many original songs and toured and performed, around Keighley and surrounding towns and villages before moving on to bigger venues in Bradford, Leeds and Manchester. But it was in Liverpool at The Cavern Club – birthplace of The Beatles – that we hit it off big, playing there many times."
The band developed a large following and released a number of singles, EPs and albums – with Feeling Better and Burning becoming its most popular tracks.
The Undecided disbanded in 2010, following the departure of Tim. But remaining members continued playing under the name Indianic, with Mark Hall joining the line up as lead singer.
Sam died in 2014.
His remaining Indianic bandmates continued writing and performing music for another couple of years.
Johann says: "Sixteen Drummers-The Story of The Undecided is our official biography.
"We were an unlikely grouping of lads, from Keighley and Haworth.
"The book takes the reader on a journey, following four young friends and the crazy capers they got up to whilst touring and performing with the band.
"There are stories of friendship, camaraderie, banter, mischief and mind-boggling adventures, encapsulating all the nostalgia of the 90s music scene, the Britpop/rock era with all its swagger – the last great music movement before the internet and social media made its mark on the industry."
The foreword for the book was written by musician and journalist John Robb, member of the 1980s punk band the Membranes.
Johann says: "The book contains a story featuring John, when the band met him at an Oasis gig in 2000. I met him a couple of times after that and he kindly agreed to write the foreword."
