KEIGHLEY'S Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal was launched with a ceremony in the town centre.
Deputy town mayor Councillor Chris Herd was presented with the first poppy by seven-year-old Long Lee Primary School pupil Charlie Orrah.
1st Battalion Duke of Wellington’s Regiment veteran Peter Law was also amongst those present.
The ceremony took place at the Keighley Poppy Shop, opposite Poundland in the Airedale Shopping Centre.
Poppies can be obtained there ahead of the remembrance commemorations.
People across the district will join with the rest of the nation on Sunday, November 10, to remember those who have died in conflict.
In Keighley, a parade will leave Russell Street at 9.35am and make its way to St Andrew’s Church for a 10am service.
Afterwards, the parade will head to Town Hall Square where at 10.50am there will be acts of remembrance and prayers, followed by a two-minute silence and wreath laying.
