THIS year's Oxenhope Straw Race was a record breaker.
And the success of the annual charity extravaganza was celebrated with a Beer 'n' Bales Bash, at the village community centre.
Trophies were awarded to race winners, and cheques to the beneficiaries.
There were also raffles and an auction.
"The evening was a resounding success – raising additional funds for local charities," says a race spokesperson.
"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us and supported this event.
"Your participation was essential to our success, and special recognition goes to those who sponsored a bale, which significantly boosted our fundraising efforts."
The 2024 straw race – held in July – was the 46th, and it saw an unprecedented 552 runners take part, the most beer consumed and £31,860 raised.
As part of the initiative, participants – many in fancy dress – carry 20kg bales of straw through the village and down drinks en route.
Covering around 2.5 miles, the course starts at the Waggon and Horses and takes in The Bay Horse, the ex-'Idiot Hut' social club, The Lamb and then the former Shoulder of Mutton, before an uphill push to the finish at the Dog and Gun.
Tipples sponsored by Timothy Taylor's, Saltaire Brewery, Northern Monk, Vocation, Moorhouses, Barker Bridge and Rudgate are downed.
Prizes are awarded for the fastest times and best fancy dress.
Over the years, the event has raised more than £500,000 for good causes. Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands is amongst the main beneficiaries.
The spokesperson adds: "We're immensely thankful to our loyal supporters, including the pubs along the route and the breweries that generously provided complimentary ale.
"Organising the race presents its challenges. Our success is built on a strong foundation established over nearly 50 years, with invaluable support from Bradford Council and local residents.
"We'd like to express special thanks to our dedicated committee and the 60-or-so volunteers who assisted on race day.
"We look forward to the 47th Oxenhope Straw Race in 2025."
Trophies were presented by village councillor Robert Goulding, who judged the race fancy dress, and Keighley MP Robbie Moore handed out the cheques.
Beneficiaries included: Manorlands, £23,895; Good Shepherd Centre and Worth Valley Food Bank, £1,839 each; Haworth Riding for the Disabled and Keighley Parkinson's Support Group, £1,393 each; Oxenhope Warm Space, £1,000, and Oakworth Youth Project, £500.
