A FESTIVE extravaganza is being staged at the home of a Keighley arts charity.

Award-winning Keighley Creative – based at the former Argos store, in Cooke Lane – is hosting an array of activities on Saturday, November 30, between 10am and 3pm.

The artist studios will be opened up to the public, and there will be a winter makers' fair with stallholders selling a range of artworks, jewellery and handmade gifts.

There is also a free family-friendly craft workshop in the education room, run by volunteers from the Keighley Christmas Baubles project. Children and their parents or carers can decorate baubles to hang on the Christmas tree in the Airedale Shopping Centre, or to place on their own tree at home.

Keighley Creative events manager, Cathryn Murray, says: "It is set to be a great day.

"We are offering a perfect opportunity for local makers and artists to promote their work and sell their unique handmade products to the Keighley community. And visitors can enjoy some Christmas shopping while the kids join in with the craft workshop."

The event will also mark the launch of Keighley Creative's latest art exhibition, showcasing work produced by the community – including One In A Million and Highfield Community Association – over the past few months.

Arts and heritage officer Lauren Kelly, who has led on the exhibition, says: "Some of the pieces were made over the summer when our K-Town Cart visited outdoor spaces around the town and we ran a series of creative workshops.

"People joined us in parks and community spaces around Keighley to make these unique pieces of art, which include an embroidered quilt and a heritage tree.

"This is a great opportunity for anyone who took part in the workshops to come along and see their contributions displayed. However if you can’t make November 30, don’t worry, as there will be more opportunities through December to come and see the show."

November 30 also sees Keighley's Royal Arcade stage its Christmas market, from 10am to 5pm.

Opening alongside the independent businesses in the Low Street arcade that day will be food and drink stalls, and there will be underground tours of the cellars. Booking for the tours is required. Carol singers will perform from 3pm.
