BULB planting is taking place at two sites in Keighley.

Sessions will be held on Tuesday, November 26 – at the Ashbourne Road field from 9am, and then at Guard House, on grass verges opposite the 'Tip Top' site, from 1pm.

The initiative is being staged by Keighley Town Council, in conjunction with housing group Incommunities.

Staff from both organisations, plus schoolchildren, councillors and other volunteers, are taking part.

And anyone is welcome to go along to help out.

Councillor Mohammed Muazzam – chair of the town council's events and community development committee, which has funded the project – says: "We're making use of urban green spaces and bringing them to life by planting daffodil bulbs, which will grow back every year. This is great for the environment, and will really brighten up the area."

Dan Clegg, head of estate services at Incommunities, says: "It will be fantastic if the local community comes together and supports the planting. It’s a great opportunity to enhance our green spaces, and at the same time support biodiversity within our neighbourhoods."

It is also planned to add a wildflower area to the Ashbourne Road site next spring.

Would-be volunteers are asked to email louise.soothill@keighley.gov.uk
