A COMPANY boss has spoken of her pride as the business marks more than four decades of top-level accreditation.

Keighley Laboratories has now held the United Kingdom Accreditation Service status since 1982.

The South Street firm, commonly known as Keighley Labs, carries out a wide range of metallurgical analysis and testing at its state-of-the-art facility.

It offers services that include assessing metal strength, identifying material compositions and diagnosing causes of failures or breakdowns.

The company works with customers from a variety of industries, including aerospace, transmission engineering, nuclear power, automotive, hydraulics, transportation, mining, marine, petrochemicals and leisure.

Managing director, Debbie Mellor, says: "Our commitment to quality has always been at the core of our operations.

"Achieving and maintaining this accreditation for over 40 years is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.

"We have adhered to rigorous standards, ensuring that our testing and calibration services meet the precise requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 – the international laboratory standard.

"The accreditation has been integral in helping us maintain a robust business model that prioritises accuracy, reliability and continuous improvement.

An ongoing evaluation process is carried out by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, whose assessment reports are used to refine processes and service delivery.

The accreditation scope has grown to include advanced testing methods and new technological capabilities.

Sam Giles – head of the engineering, construction and physics section of the service – says: "Congratulations go to Keighley Laboratories on achieving, maintaining and extending the scope of its accredited testing and calibration activity over the past 40-plus years.

"Becoming accredited to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard can help laboratories streamline processes, embed best practices and access a wider marketplace. In turn, this provides the company's customers with confidence in the reliability and accuracy of their testing and measurement results."

Keighley Labs was established in 1920, and has been associated with engineering since its inception.
