A PARTNERSHIP that runs GP practices across the area has recruited its first apprentices from Keighley College.

Ten students have been placed at Modality surgeries, at locations including Keighley, Haworth, Cross Hills and Skipton.

The cohort, which has taken up business administration positions, will combine working experience with studies over the next year.

Students are working towards Level 3 Business Administrator qualifications.

Clare Fitzgerald, head of business engagement and growth at the college, says: "We pride ourselves on working closely with the local community and respected organisations like Modality.

"This is a great opportunity for our apprentices to gain invaluable, real-world experience at a variety of medical venues in and around the district."

Modality has previously teamed up with the college for various community health initiatives, including vaccination and health check clinics held on the campus. Also, partnership representatives have given talks to health and social care students and Access to Higher Education learners and staff.

Modality medical director and GP partner, Debbie Livesey, says: "It's fantastic to have 10 Keighley College apprentices with us and we look forward to helping them develop their careers in the health and care sector.

"We want to invest in local young people, give them the opportunity to build a career in Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven, and inspire the next generation of healthcare employees."
