A KEIGHLEY woman "through and through" has joined an award-winning arts charity as its events producer.

Tracy Uren has taken up the post with Keighley Creative.

She will play a pivotal role in organising and running the charity's popular programme of events and projects.

Tracy began her career working in Keighley schools, as a play leader, teacher and early years specialist with a strong focus on the arts.

She then served as a learning and outreach officer with Bradford Museums and Galleries.

Her work centred around helping audiences connect with collections and exhibitions, which included the planning and delivery of the schools education programme.

After 10 years in that post, Tracy switched to Bradford Council, working on various redevelopment projects across the Keighley and Bradford district.

She says: ""My role for Bradford Museums and Galleries directly links to the work I will be doing at Keighley Creative.

"I organised key events for them, such as the Yorkshire regional launch of The Big Draw and a Schools Linking Project celebration day, which was developed to help promote community cohesion."

Tracy's passion for working with people and the arts extends beyond her career.

"In my spare time I volunteer as an arts activity co-ordinator with the Wednesday Leisure Club in Keighley," she says.

"My passion is helping others to connect with their inner creative, so when I stumbled across Keighley Creative while out shopping I knew I wanted to be involved with it.

"I’m genuinely proud to be part of something that is making a positive difference to my home town."

Her appointment is welcomed by Keighley Creative executive director, Riaz Meer.

He says: "We are thrilled to have Tracy join our team as events producer.

"She is Keighley through and through and will be an amazing champion for our town and the work of Keighley Creative.

"Her knowhow and drive will be a huge asset to the charity as we build towards 2025 and beyond."
