UPON reading last week's Keighley News I was amazed by the writer's comment in the letter headed 'Bridge is great news'.

Whilst appreciating that the news (if true!) - regarding the proposed Steeton-Silsden footbridge - is indeed good, I am at a loss as to the comment thanking Bradford Council for the hard work that has gone into such.

The hard work referred to must relate to the years preceding March 2019, when I wrote to the Keighley News complaining about the feasibility study for the construction of the said bridge costing £120,000 – that being for the study alone.

Since then I believe further studies have been conducted, again at great cost.

Now even more studies have to be completed before a turn of a sod is made.

Yes, hard work indeed – hard to understand, more likely!

Perhaps if 'hard work' is defined by the writer, I would welcome knowing the reasoning and evidence of such.

To my mind if the hard work was put into building a bridge, as opposed to paying some advisor thousands of pounds ratepayers' money for no positive outcome, the result would if completed shame the Humber Bridge.

Please update the photo of the proposed bridge used in the Keighley News, as the vehicles featured could be things of the past.
