MOTORISTS across the Keighley area and Craven are being urged to take extra care – and consider cancelling non-essential journeys.

Flooding is an issue on many routes, as melted snow and heavy rain cause problems.

North Yorkshire Police say they were alerted to several broken down vehicles last night after drivers attempted to go through deep standing water.

A spokesperson says: "We've been out and about helping people as well as attending to our other duties.

"Please help by considering whether you really need to make a journey. If you do, check traffic updates and the weather forecast before heading out, expect the unexpected and do not attempt to drive through floodwater – instead find alternative routes."
