A MEN'S health event has been staged at Keighley Golf Club.

Members learned more about prostate screening.

And following a health education talk, 37 people completed a prostate specific antigen – or PSA – test, which tests the blood for prostate conditions.

The event was held in partnership with the golf club by Wharfedale, Airedale & Craven Alliance Primary Care Network – supported by its cancer champion Sharon Cope and team members Dr David Thompson and Georgia Stirk, a mental health coach.

It formed part of a new Primary Care Network cancer initiative, which aims to improve the uptake of key screening programmes.

The scheme is being delivered in community settings across Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.

In England, the PSA test is available free to any man aged 50 and over who requests it from their GP practice. For further information, visit patient.info/mens-health/prostate-and-urethra-problems/prostate-specific-antigen-test-psa

Wharfedale, Airedale & Craven Alliance said the golf club event had been a huge success, with positive feedback from attendees.

Comments included that the talk, which outlined the pros and cons of prostate screening, had been "easy to follow" and "explained everything".
