The main entrance to Keighley market hall will close on Monday for nine days as part of improvement work.
The market itself will remain open as contractors build a canopy at the Low Street end of the building.
Bradford Council said the entrance was being closed as a safety precaution while construction went ahead.
Work was delayed last month after contractors, digging to lay foundations, found cellars of old buildings. A large glazed canopy extension will be built on the pedestrianised area in front of the Low Street entrance.
It is part of a refurbishment programme for the market, which has already seen improvements to the roof, entrances, lighting and ventilation.
The new canopy will provide trading space for “start-up” traders, an exhibition and a café. The work, carried out by local contractor RN Wooler & Co Ltd for Bradford Council, should be finished by early May.
The front entrance will reopen on February 18.
