A television production company is on the lookout for British people whose parents or grandparents come from outside the UK.
Such people living in Keighley district have been invited to take part in a documentary which aims to explore the trend of “reverse migration”. This involves people leaving Britain for the promise of a better life in the countries where their families originated.
A spokeswoman for Brighton-based firm Ricochet said the company was keen to hear from people in Keighley who might be willing to “road test” a new life in the land of their forebears.
The firm has previously produced TV series for the BBC and Channel Four.
The spokeswoman said: “Britain may once have seemed like the land of opportunity but now, with the downturn in the economy, thousands of British-born people are leaving for the promise of a better life where their families came from originally.
“There are exciting career and business opportunities for people with western education and experience and there is a growing trend of reverse migration to many countries from the UK.
“We’ll be giving four second or third generation British families the opportunity to ‘road test’ a new life in the country of their parents or grandparents for several months.
“They might like it so much, they decide they want to stay.”
She added: “If you and your family are thinking about making such a move, or have always wanted to find out what life would be like where your parents or grandparents come from, call us on 01273 224816 or email familyroots@ricochet.co.uk.”
