An online questionnaire to help new parents check how their baby is developing is being launched in Keighley.

The NHS Early Years LifeCheck is aimed at parents of babies aged between five and eight months.

It asks a series of questions to establish how well a baby is feeding, sleeping, playing and developing and how parents are coping.

There are also options for parents to find out more information and details on where to access further guidance.

The questionnaire is available at nhs.uk/lifecheck but is also being launched at Strong Close Nursery and Highfield Children’s Centre.

Responses to the questionnaire are treated as confidential but anyone wishing to use computers in Highfield or Strong Close can get help from staff.

They will also receive a £10 Boots voucher and a “Baby’s first book”.

Coucillor Michael Kelly, pictured, Bradford’s executive member for children’s services, said: “I know from personal experience that many new parents worry about how their baby is developing and whether they are doing things right.

“These early stages of a child’s life are crucial and it is important that parents get it right at this point to have a positive impact on his or her future.

“As well as giving help and advice, this questionnaire should reassure them and reinforce the message there is nothing wrong with asking for help if they need it.”

The initiative is part of a Government scheme to address health inequalities.

Local authorities have been awarded funding to promote it.
