Teenage Keighley historian Lewis Parker has revealed the route of his first heritage walk in the town.
Lewis, 13, runs Keighley Archaeology and History Society and an accompanying website. He is inviting people to join him outside Keighley Shared Church, on February 21, when he will first talk about the Church Green area.
He will take his party to Damside and the sites of the former corn mill, barracks and Congregational Chapel.
Then the group will move to Chapel Lane to hear about its manor house and Russell Street to discover a former cinema.
Then further stops will cover the Mechanics’ Institute, Drill Hall, Cavendish Street, Royal Arcade, Low Bridge Mill and the Shared Church graveyard.
Lewis will finish his tour with talks about a Christmas murder at the Lord Rodney pub, famous local character Old Three Laps and John Drake’s Free School.
Lewis, of Grant Street, a student at Holy Family School, is particularly interested in the old Westgate area of Keighley.
Tickets for the walk cost £1.50 for adults and £1 for children aged under 13, from 01535 662209 or keighleyarchaeology.co.pr.
