Use of modern technology in the classroom will be the focus of a conference being held today.
TV celebrity Johnny Ball will be the main speaker at the event, being staged by Education Bradford’s curriculum ICT team.
A presentation will be given by Wilsden Primary School, winner last year of a coveted primary innovation award.
And a group of year six pupils from St Anne’s RC Primary School, in Keighley, will be acting as a media team.
They will conduct interviews using mp3 recorders, download them on to XP netbook and then create podcasts.
One youngster will be blogging live from the event and a young cameraman will take snaps for the blogs.
The conference is being held at the Abundant Life Centre, in Bradford.
Steve Dale, Education Bradford’s curriculum ICT consultant, said: “Schools have already invested millions of pounds in technology and the innovators have found ways to use that technology to make learning more personalised, exciting, rewarding and enjoyable — and it shows in their results. We, as educators, need to make sure everyone understands the positive impact that new technologies can have on education and how it can help learners fulfil their potential.”
